Did you know that recent studies have shown that 60% of cats over the age of 6 years and 90% of cats over the age of 12 years are affected by Osteoarthritis? Nearly 40 % of dogs show signs of osteoarthritis pain, but less than half are actually diagnosed. We are excited to be able to offer Solensia for cats and Librela for dogs. This once a month injection works like your pet's own naturally made antibodies to reduce the pain signal. This makes it safe to use with any other medication or health condition. If you are interested in scheduling your cat or dog, call the clinic to set up an appointment at 440-338-5139.
New CDC Import Requirements
Updated 7/23/24- Here is what we know so far about the new CDC dog import guidelines. We only have limited information right now, and some of this information may change prior to the law going into effect August 1, 2024.
1. The new guidelines apply to dogs coming into the US. This includes US owned dogs that leave for vacation and come back. As of right now, no country exceptions noted, so this includes a quick weekend trip to Canada. Your dog can leave the US, but would NOT be allowed back in without proper documentation.
2. You will need an ISO compliant microchip. These microchips are unique and have 15 digits. If your dog has a 15-digit microchip placed in the US, it is most likely ISO compliant. If it is less than 15 digits, it is not considered valid for international travel purposes. If you are unsure if yours is, you can call us and we can check our records or scan the chip.
3. No puppies under 6 months are allowed to travel into the US. No exceptions are listed.
4. If your dog got their microchip elsewhere, please make sure it is listed on our paperwork.
5. The rabies requirement has been removed from the current requirements to enter the United States.
6. You will be required to submit a CDC Dog Import form prior to returning to the US. This form is available on the CDC website. You can reach the site here, CDC Dog Import Form.
7. These regulations and forms are for dogs either coming into the US for the first time, or coming home from travels. There are different forms needed by other countries to leave the US and enter another country depending on where you are traveling to.
